Solve Immigration Crisis: Annex MexicoDomenick J. Maglio, Ph.D. Neo-TraditionalistThe Bush, Kennedy and McCain guest worker proposals will not stem the tide of illegal immigration. It will continue the phony 20 year policy of “a wink and a nod.” Over the next twenty years it will open the floodgates for 66 million or more illegals, according to Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation. Furthermore, the immigration reform proposals will probably result in many southwestern states seceding to join Mexico. The solution is not to lose our sovereignty through the invasion of illegal immigrants but to expand it. A more comprehensive and compassionate immigration reform act is to make Mexico the 51st state. It is the most humane approach for resolving the dilemma of the 12 million illegal immigrants, the vast majority being from Mexico. It will give not only illegals but all Mexicans the opportunity to live the American dream. It will be the ultimate solution to this issue. Annexation of Mexico is a win-win strategy for politicians and citizens of both countries to unite under the American flag. Mexicans could stay with their families without having to cross a border and still be American citizens. The resulting new economy would increase the standard of living for previous immigrants from south of the border. It will no longer be necessary to enter the US in the eighth month of pregnancy in order to gain American citizenship for the child. They would rid themselves of a corrupt third world government and inherit a great future for themselves and their families. It will be a bonanza for all politicians on both sides of the border. The Mexican government will receive larger and well-defined legal pay offs in the form of financial buyout packages. Republicans will continue to cater to International Corporations with their customary kickbacks. The Democrats will have a new block of voters to pander to gaining a stronger hold on power. The good old power elite club will continue without skipping a beat. Annexation will not be all-bad for the average American. Corona will become a domestic beer. The US will have more tourist areas to spend more money to equalize the financial gap between the former illegals and more established Americans. There will be a financial windfall from no longer needing bilingual programs. Oil production in the 51st state will become more efficient encouraging bigger and faster autos to shorten the time needed to explore the new state. Even with all these advantages to merging the two nations there will be certain special interest groups who will squeal in protest. The following are reasons why they would be upset:
Although annexation of Mexico seems provocative, it would be good for the majority of Mexican and American citizens. It will unite the two or perhaps three countries into one nation of opportunity with all the checks and balances of our constitution preserved for the continuation of freedom, stability and prosperity. The other scenario is disastrous. The invasion of illegals will overwhelm the US bringing us to the depths of a third world country as well as shrinking our national borders. The US Constitution will be dismantled by elite internationalist malcontents. Annexation of Mexico is the most effective and gracious way for the United States to resolve the problems that cause the invasion of illegal immigrants. Let us welcome all Mexicans to join us as the 51st state. |
