America is Losing its Self-PreservationDr. Domenick J. Maglio, Ph.D. Neo-TraditionalistAmerica is selling off our assets without thought about our nation’s future. We gave away the Panama Canal and all the strategic importance that went with it. There is a ban on drilling in our oil fields while there is talk of Cuba drilling 19 miles off Key West. Criminals have more civil rights than law-abiding citizens. The economic implications of the invasion of millions of illegal immigrants is ignored while entry level jobs for our children are becoming non-existent. A growing segment of America wants to cut and run from Iraq with little thought about the long range consequences to America. International corporations who have no allegiance to America are granted tax incentives by our own government. We are aborting millions of babies to reach zero population while we watch Europe go through a drastic population reduction bordering on extinction. We have lost sight of our long-term preservation of our culture, religious beliefs and language. We have become a delusional people who believe we are perpetually guaranteed liberty, prosperity and happiness without effort and sacrifice. We believe and expect our unlimited, inexhaustible supply of food will continue to be reaped without any cultivation, protection from varmints, or the effort of harvesting. We lack the common sense learned directly from the earth. America’s coffers are bountiful due to our forefather’s work ethic and ability to protect what is ours. The greatness of America was derived from the freedom given to our citizens tempered by traditional Judeo-Christian moral values. It was built on the shoulders of past hard-working Americans. There is no entitlement to our riches or is there a moral right to squander our children’s legacy. Our self-reliance has morphed into cheap foreign goods and illegal labor. We have strayed from our traditional ways. Our self-indulgence both personally and nationally has no limits. We believe we have infinite inexhaustible wealth that we can throw at any problem. But we do not want to bother ourselves dirtying our hands to truly get the job done. Our once lean, strong and proud nation is fat, weak and out of touch with reality. Pseudo intellectuals have convinced the influential segment of our society that we can replace the reality of human nature with humanistic mythology and still survive. This disregard for the basic fact that evil exists, is the only sensible explanation for not administering the death penalty to a self-proclaimed terrorist. Zacharias Moussaoui, after admitting involvement in 9/11, threatening to kill Americans, mocking and undermining our court system, was put in a $100,000 a year cell for life rather than receive the death penalty. The nonsense advanced for not giving the death penalty is “we are better than revenge” and “he had a terrible childhood.” It even looks like we don’t have the stomach to try CIA officials who have leaked top secret, classified material ultimately assisting our enemies. A crackdown on traitors would open a Pandora’s box that would force serious action. Leaders in America have lost the guts to take care of business to protect our nation. America has to come out of its delusional state. The horrific experience of 9/11 woke us up for a moment although we have returned to pre 9/11 fantasy thinking where we do not acknowledge God or the existence of evil. The arrogant belief is that the U.S. is exempt from the teachings of history that demonstrates people, groups and nations can do inhumane things to innocent people. This is the same non-realistic thinking that allowed peaceful Holocaust victims to be led onto railroad cars to extermination camps without significant resistance. We have to realize what we have is worth fighting for. We will lose our freedom if we do not stand up to evil forces. All Americans experienced the fear and near meltdown of our interdependent society on 9/11. We were shocked back into reality. For awhile there was no petty self-interest or special consideration for the well-connected. We were all Americans. America’s interest is all of our interest. This peaceful revolution in thought can take place when we do the following: America can only maintain its number one leadership position in the world by courageously following the traditional moral values established by our founding fathers. It takes strength to confront the inevitable struggles of life. No one with wisdom would guarantee that life would be easy. We must stand up for our principles or lose our civilization. |
